GreenStage is committed to making outstanding performances of Shakespeare's plays available and accessible to everyone, regardless of means. Our free Shakespeare in the Park plays have become a favorite summer tradition for many families in the Seattle area. For others, happening across a show in a park on a nice summer day may be the first time they've experienced Shakespeare, or any kind of theater, and it's especially gratifying when we win over a new fan for the arts.
We have had a marvelous year, with well-received productions of The Taming of the Shrew, Henry VIII, and Cardenio. We're excited for 2013 and our 25th season, featuring summer productions of King Lear and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and a Hard Bard production of The Bacchae by Euripides next fall. We're thrilled to be growing, too, with a larger staff helping to create new programs and expand our educational offerings.
All of that comes with a cost, and we've seen our expenses rise for items as simple as storage for our large inventory of costumes, props, sets, and theater gear. Our plays will always be free, but we couldn't put them on without the generous support of our audiences. As the end of the year approaches, please consider a financial gift to GreenStage! Receive a nice tax deduction for 2012 and, more importantly, help us get ready for an exciting silver anniversary season of GreenStage and Shakespeare in the Park!
