Hamlet
Directed by Susanna Wilson
July 12 – August 16, 2008
“There’s a divinity that shapes our ends.”
In Denmark, the old Norse gods are being relegated to the realm of mythology as Christianity becomes a way of life. When Hamlet’s father, the King, dies, and his mother remarries the King’s brother, thoughts of revenge, lust, ambition, and murder intertwine with questions of death itself. New concepts of Divine Providence and life after death are something only Prince Hamlet dares to explore. Shakespeare’s masterful play presents an engaging story examining humanity’s innermost thoughts and beliefs.

Your most excellent Hamlet cast illuminated...
brilliantly the deeper meaning of the Bard's rich language. Honestly, this is the BEST Hamlet cast I've seen among many productions! I saw Hamlet twice, brought friends unfamiliar with the play, and each time I was transported, transfixed by the whole cast's A+ performance, but especially by Shawn Law's emotional connection with the story; how skillfully he used his body, blocking, movement, timing and inflection, all served to finally give me/us all a most vivid and enriching grasp of this great play's real meaning and significance. Thanks, I'll remember your performances always!
I will make these summer plays a yearly ritual. Thanks for your commitment to theatrical excellence!
