Hamlet

Directed by Susanna Wilson

July 12 – August 16, 2008

“There’s a divinity that shapes our ends.”

In Denmark, the old Norse gods are being relegated to the realm of mythology as Christianity becomes a way of life. When Hamlet’s father, the King, dies, and his mother remarries the King’s brother, thoughts of revenge, lust, ambition, and murder intertwine with questions of death itself. New concepts of Divine Providence and life after death are something only Prince Hamlet dares to explore. Shakespeare’s masterful play presents an engaging story examining humanity’s innermost thoughts and beliefs.

Hamlet

The July 12th performance of Hamlet "harrowed me with fear and wonder". The staging and editing were innovative without disrupting the sense of the play, and Mr. Law seemed to be in
touch with the very essence of Hamlet. It was as if there were a Hamletian ideal, fed by all the best performances of the centuries.
